Studio
Founded on restraint, built on trust.
Atelier Noir was founded in Milan in 2012 by architects Mira Solberg and Julian Ferro, out of a shared frustration with interiors that photographed well but lived poorly. Fourteen years later, the studio works across Europe and beyond, but the founding instinct hasn't changed: fewer, better decisions, made with total conviction.
We remain deliberately small. Every project that carries the Atelier Noir name is directed personally by one of our two founding principals, from the first site visit to the final punch-list walkthrough — a structure that limits how many projects we take on, and protects the quality of every one we do.

How we work
We take on a limited number of projects each year, by design. Each new commission is assigned a small, dedicated team that stays with the project from concept through delivery — no handoffs, no rotating cast of junior staff.
We work in close, direct contact with clients throughout, favoring physical material samples and hand-drawn concept sketches over polished renderings in the early stages, so that decisions are made on substance rather than presentation.
Philosophy
Light. Material. Proportion.
Light
We design the path of the sun through a building before we design its walls — orienting rooms, openings, and materials to a specific quality of daylight rather than a generic one.
Material
A restrained material palette, honestly applied and allowed to age, does more for a space than any amount of decoration. We choose few materials and use them everywhere.
Proportion
The relationship between a ceiling and a window, a threshold and a room, determines how a space feels long before anyone notices what it's made of. Proportion is where our work begins.
Team
Two founders, a small studio, total accountability.
Mira Solberg
Founding Principal, Architecture
Leads the studio's architectural practice, with a focus on site-specific residential and hospitality work across the Mediterranean.
Julian Ferro
Founding Principal, Interiors
Directs interior architecture and materiality, shaping the studio's material language from concept through custom joinery.
Anouk Reyes
Director of Hospitality Projects
Oversees the studio's hospitality practice, translating operator requirements into considered guest experiences.
Theo Marchetti
Technical Director
Manages construction documentation and site delivery, ensuring design intent survives contact with the build.
