Philosophy

Every project at Atelier Noir is built from the same three instruments. We believe the discipline is not in adding more, but in knowing precisely what each space requires — and withholding everything else.
Light
We design the path of the sun through a building before we design its walls — orienting rooms, openings, and materials to a specific quality of daylight rather than a generic one.
Material
A restrained material palette, honestly applied and allowed to age, does more for a space than any amount of decoration. We choose few materials and use them everywhere.
Proportion
The relationship between a ceiling and a window, a threshold and a room, determines how a space feels long before anyone notices what it's made of. Proportion is where our work begins.
